What do you do?

Thursday was one of those days where I kept asking, telling, demanding the kids to clean their rooms. This went on for quite some time, with me trying varying forms of discipline and bribery, but with no success. Well, Hyrum was out in the living room, not doing what he was supposed to, when I told him he'd better get back in his room and make it clean. He still just set there. (Imagine my anger swelling up inside). I took two steps towards him and he ran to his room, and just before he slams the door, yells out to me "you Stupid Wicked Nephite Bad Guy." It caught me completely off guard that I just had to walk away to regain composure as I couldn't stop smirking at the name he created. Later, I calmly had a conversation with him about name calling, talking back, slamming his door, not cleaning his room, etc. I'm just not good at correcting in the moment when the act is humorous. Like a kid's going to listen to you tell him not to do something when you can stop smiling or laughing about it. Now that I've shared this story, people (i.e. Aaron) are using my new nickname of "Stupid Wicked Nephite Bad Guy" : )
