Our Little Peddler
Last fall, Hyrum's training wheels broke off his bike. He was devastated as he couldn't ride it. This spring, I looked and looked and bought some different training wheels, but couldn't find any small enough for his little bike. We started thinking that maybe we'd get him a new bike since the old one was getting much too small anyway. His birthday isn't until September, so we wanted to come up with a way to justify getting it for him now instead. I guess Rheanna discussed it with Catey and Kammi and came up with an idea. We would get a bike for Hyrum and Payton, but then keep them in the basement until they had "earned" them. We decided to have them clean their rooms and keep them clean for a full week, then they could have their bikes. Also, once they have the bikes the rooms must stay clean or the bikes are taken away. Well, the room cleaning has been awesome this week, far better than normal. Hyrum is so excited about his new bike b/c it's just like Jacob's (the only decent one Walmart has). In his excitement of waiting he keeps trying to ride his old one. Well, in the last few days, he's actually learned how to ride it without training wheels. He's not the best at stopping or endurance, but he sure is proud of himself. I asked if we should take the new bike back, but of course he wants it : ) We'll see if he can do that without training wheels, since it's a taller bike. Now we need to get Payton on hers so she can get the pedaling concept down.

Yay Hyrum! Peddling a bike is so hard to learn - I learned it going downhill (after many falls).
