Opportunities and Decisions

I love change, but about this I'm not so sure...

A few weeks ago I was determined to find a new job. This was based solely on a desire for more income and better benefits. I had some interviews, but nothing really sparked my interest. Partly b/c I love my job and have one of the most flexible schedules, which to me is worth a lot. Well, 2 weeks ago I finally had my long overdue review and was told a raise would be forthcoming. So, I called off the job search and figured this was the place to stay, since I've been here 3 years, love the job, have the ability to take time off whenever and would soon be getting a raise (still waiting for that part, but otherwise content).

It turns out I didn't take my resume off of Monster and today, out of the blue, I got a call for an interview with a company in desperate need of an Asst Controller. I scheduled an interview as the job sounded perfect. Benefits are great. Now comes my dilemma. First off, the job is out past the airport, so 16 miles farther than my current one. Secondly, the schedule would be more rigid, which is annoying b/c I don't have control and it would not allow me to carpool with such great friends. I have no idea how the income compares, so we'll see on that. Not sure what to do, but I guess I'll have to interview first and see how it turns out. Maybe Aaron's position will work out for him and his scheduled would magically coincide with mine and at least a small carpool would still exist. This job also provides membership to Gold's Gym, so I'd have to say good bye to the Park Center in Murray.

If it works out and I was offered the job, the big deciding factor would be income. Why don't more companies just disclose that info up front and save everyone some time? I feel a bit presumptuous to say, "sure I"ll interview, but what's the pay like."

Here's the downer for all you readers, it would mean no more Rumbi coupons :(

We shall see, it may just be an interview and that's it.

I delayed my interview until Monday. It went well and I was actually impressed by the company, so if they made a good offer, I'd take it and not feel so bad about leaving my current job, so we'll see.
