Last Week

Since this is my only form of journal, this is just an update on some random things. Unfortunately, life has been crazy lately, and I haven’t updated my blog very much.

My new job is great. I’m still trying to figure out what I need to do to stay busy. The nice part is that it’s turning out to be more flexible than I thought. Thus, I’ve been working 7:30 until 4 or 4:30, hoping to make the 4 pm thing will become permanent. My gym attendance has been very sporadic, about 2 times a week is all. Hopefully, I can just work a little earlier and relive the carpool experience and regain workout buddies. There are some nice things about commuting solo though. I’ve listened to a few audio books, and drive home much quicker.

Last Wednesday, I suddenly had the burning desire to attend Priesthood Session in the Conference Center (still not sure why, although it was a great session). I asked Aaron if he was interested in trying standby. Catey was going to be gone, so he wasn’t able to go that early, so I dropped the idea, not wanting to pursue it alone and not sure who else to ask, I dismissed my idea. The next day, Todd called to offer me tickets for that very session. Todd went with his father-in-law and so Eric and I attended with his other tickets. I guess I just needed to be there, maybe I wouldn’t have got as much out of it at the stake center or something. A couple of funny things I saw were that the MTC choir had to practice standing up and sitting down several times before the meeting began. Then after we sang the 3rd verse of Praise to the Man, Pres Uchtdorf stood at the pulpit to start his talk, not realizing the hymn wasn’t over. Pres Monson tapped his shoulder and they embraced and laughed as we sang the final verse. It was a fantastic conference. I loved Elder Scott’s PPI.

Last Thursday I turned 30. It was a good day. I couldn’t have asked for a better birthday. I’ve said for years I have just a few goals to accomplish before I’m 30. To own a house, have at least 3 kids, have 2 cars, a degree, and a good job. All have been accomplished so now I need some goals for 35 or 40, not sure which age I want to target : ) One new goal is weekly temple attendance every Tuesday morning. I went today, so so far it’s been 100% since turning 30. Now I just need to keep it up.

Friday, Rheanna and I went out for my birthday/anniversary (7 years on the 12th). We went to a corn maze and had a blast. It was simple, yet fun. We went out to eat (and like all of our dates, went shopping too). It was a great night.
This month should be one full of parties and celebrations. I guess that happens with lots of October birthdays, our anniversary and Halloween.
