Half-mile Swim

Those of you who have seen me in the pool know that I'm a very poor swimmer. Last year, Aaron spent many hours coaching me and teaching me proper technique. I still don't have the technique down, but am improving. Usually, if I exert everything I have I complete 10 laps. By that point my arms are dead tired and barely keep me afloat or my lungs need a big break to catch some air.

Today, we arrived early and after a few laps, I decided today was the day I would do a half mile (16 laps). Well, after several stops and hanging on the wall to get some air, I actually did it. It took me 40 minutes, but at least 10 was hanging on the wall. I would love to do the triathlon this summer, but not sure if I can go that distance in open choppy water with nothing to hold on to if I want a break. I guess this is the first step, since I've actually done the distance.

Needless to say, I'm ready for a nap.

That's a great milestone, Justin. I'm sure you'll be doing a mile before the year is out. Great exercise!

You have alot of time to train so I am sure you will be just fine! 1/2 mile is a long swim makes me breathless just thinkin' about it :)
