Way back in January, I started swimming with Aaron in Lehi. He's pretty good, I'm terrible. He coached me some then, but then schedules changed and I continued by myself, failing miserably at good technique and breathing. The next few months, we were able to work out together, but it consisted of weight lifting and running, not much swimming. Recently, that has changed as he's preparing for his triathlon. So I've timidly approached the pool again. He has graciously given up his swim time a few days to give me swimming lessons. I'm sure this has been frustrating for him, but he has been more than patient. Despite all of my coughing and breathing in water, he always reminds me that I'm not going to drown. In fact, he threatened to hold me under and then resuscitate me if I didn't start doing it right, I think the threat worked : ) Last week, we made some good progress. Today, after many attempts, I actually made it the whole length of the pool using the proper breathing technique. You see, I swim along, but I like to hold my head above water to get air. It's amazing how much easier it is now that I"m beginning to do it right. Now I need to perfect it, so I can join Aaron and James in their ability to swim a full mile. Right now I'm working on one lap at a time.
I just wanted to thank Aaron for helping me out. I doubt he wants me advertising him to teach classes, but he really is a good teacher. Thanks, man!

let me know when you want to race!
You should come to the pool now and race Aaron. He's always up for friendly competition. I'll be months before I'd attempt it.
Great......
I did have a few people interested in learning, but after that "threatened to hold me under and then resuscitate me if I didn't start doing it right" comment, they called and canceled.
Nice.
Now someone needs to teach Aaron how to not run on the pool decking.
